Patient Testimonials

"I have been impressed and grateful every step of the way with Dr. Shah. He did the proper imaging and other diagnostic tests, to determine the levels and locations of damage. He is extremely careful in every way and has unsurpassed listening skills. It’s an immense relief to find a doctor I trust.  He’s also capable of thinking outside the box and coming up with an alternative treatment if one option isn’t tolerated. I cannot recommend him, or anyone, more highly."

LEARN ABOUT YOUR OPTIONS

The SamWell Institute for Pain Management team treats pain conditions with interventional therapies and multimodal treatments. Treatment can reduce diabetic peripheral neuropathy, nerve pain, pelvic pain, post-surgical pain syndrome, and neck, back, shoulder, or knee pain after trauma.

Your personalized neuropathy and nerve pain treatment might include:

Lifestyle changes

To reduce nerve pain using lifestyle changes, eat a healthy non-inflammatory diet, get regular sleep and exercise to increase blood flow, take vitamin supplements as needed, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

Medications

Taking certain nerve pain medications can alleviate neuropathy to give you a better quality of life. Dr. Shah and his team customize medication regimens to match your unique needs.

Physical therapy

Dr. Shah lets you know which physical therapy exercises and stretches can reduce neuropathy pain and prevent its recurrence. Typically this is done in conjunction with pain relieving interventions and lifestyle changes.

Spinal Cord Stimulation Technology

For more complex and chronic neuropathy/nerve pain, Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is an advanced and minimally invasive technology that utilizes accurate doses of pulsed electrical energy to stimulate the nerves that cause pain at their source of in the neck or back. During a procedure utilizing live x-ray image guidance, Dr. Shah trials the external technology first for 7 days to gauge your response and pain relief, and if effective, he may proceed with a long term implantable device that can control your nerve pain long term.

Minimally invasive procedures for Nerve Pain

After diagnostic testing such as nerve tests and MRIs, your nerve pain stems for structures pushing on nerves from your neck or back, Dr. Shah can perform minimally invasive and non-surgical procedures under image guidance to relief your nerve pain.  These procedures include nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, epidural steroid injections, peripheral nerve stimulation, and more.

If neuropathy and nerve pain negatively affect your life, you don’t have to live with it. Schedule an appointment with pain specialists at SamWell Institute for Pain Management by phone or online for relief today.
